Leadership Communication: Receiving Feedback with Humility

I recently tested my Toastmasters contest speech at a club, eager to see how it landed. After delivering it, the feedback started coming in- some points I expected, others I hadn’t considered.
At first, I caught myself instinctively wanting to defend my choices. “But that’s intentional,” I thought. “That’s my style.”
Then I stopped.
💡 I reminded myself of a core Leadership Communication HACKS™ principle: Humility.
Great communicators don’t just speak well—they listen well. Feedback isn’t an attack; it’s an opportunity to refine, improve, and bridge the gap between intention and impact.
I took a step back, opened myself up to the feedback, and now I’m incorporating those insights into my speech. Not because I have to, but because great communication is a continuous craft.
✨ Lesson learned? Accepting feedback with humility isn’t about surrendering your voice—it’s about strengthening it.
👉 How do you approach receiving feedback? Do you embrace it or resist it at first?
