What Is Clear Advice?

Clear advice isn’t about what you said. It’s about what they understood.

Yes, you know what the problem is. Yes, you know the solution. And yes, you’ve explained it to the client. But have they understood you?

“The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place” is a famous quote from George Bernard Shaw.

Always check in with your client to make sure they’ve understood you. A client who doesn’t fully understand your advice is unequipped to move forward, and is far less likely to come back next time.

Trust in client communication is built on connection, and connection is built on mutual understanding. Without it, you’re on a one-way radio where only one person can hear what’s being said. Check in, don’t assume.

Clarity builds trust. Assumptions weaken it.
